After the 2 months of training, we have finally been and finish our trip to Cambodia. I feel that this is like a mission success, after all the preparation and hardwork, everything paid off. I do not feel any regrets and glad to be part of this trip.
During the first day, my first expression of Cambodia the first thing I reach was that Cambodia and Singapore is the opposite. Even in the city, not everything is very advance and I felt that this is going to be a very tired trip by the first look of Cambodia. When we reach the village, I felt very welcome by the villagers by what they had help us to prepare. When we got to interact with the kids, I really felt sad for them as I believe they deserve a better life than this. When we first saw the hut or house we are living in the village, it gave me a bad impression and there is no fan, nothing but just bed, however this taught me to adapt to my environment and step out of my comfort zone, and really happy that the villages are willing to sacrifice their bed and hut to let us live in for the 2 days.
Day 2, I felt excited as this was the day where our main objective is. During breakfast, I can really see that people live a very simple life there with just plain porridge, noodles, bread and some dishes, to me I think that they do not even have this type breakfast everyday. when I saw the rice field I was amaze with the scenery with the hills and mountains. I felt like it was a once in a life time experience. Working time, I finally know how tough and a hard working is the life of the villagers by trying some mixing of cement, digging of sand for cement cutting of woods etc. It is really very tired and I felt my whole body sore after finishing the well. Its our turn now to perform, although I face some difficulties due to the environment, I am still able to finish my performance. This two events gave me the greatest feeling of achievement for that trip and is already part of my life and my memories. One event too, really show me how the people appriciate food , when we drop the rice, we can see that are angry and dissapointed. This taught me that I am fortunate to have suifficent food and we should learn to appriciate more.
Day 3, This is the last day and we went to a waterfall which is the most beautiful scene I have ever seen which I had lots of fun. When we went to the school, I this we are fortunate to have a good place for us to study and their school is not even a size of our classroom. I think we are really very fortunate and we do not know how to appriciate what we have in Singapore. I hope after this trip, all of us learn something new and will appriciate and not waste our resources back here in Singapore.
Day 4, Today, I am really shock and sad by what I have seen, the grave, the people being tortured, the skeletons of the victims, and all this history was happen not long ago. Thus I think we should stop complain and our lives are way to good and safe in Singapore.
I hope everyone learn something in this trip and will apply what we learn there back here in Singapore. This experience is a wonderful memory for me and will be with me for life.
